Praia das Macas Beach Portugal

The town and beach of Praia das Macas (Apple Beach) is a solid favorite with Portuguese families. The small town is centered around a short but wide beach that extends back to a modern salt water swimming pool complex.

The town itself is charming with well maintained traditional painted houses and a lively daily market. Praia das Macas popularity originated in part to the quaint tram that connects the resort town with the historic town of Sintra high up in the hills. The beach is excellent with golden sand and very clear sea water which whips up some decent surfing/ body-boarding waves. The Praia das Macas boasts a range of good hotels and a surprisingly vibrant night life but most tourists will visit as a day trip from Sintra or Cacsais.
